Everything’s Coming Up Hannah!

Hi all!

I keep going to apologise for not posting but I am starting to learn that I don’t need to do that. I haven’t posted because life has been manic but now I have settled I can throw myself back into my blog when I can fit it in. Being a blogger can mean you post every day or you post once a month, everyone’s different! With that in mind, I thought I would update you on what has been going on since I last posted.

From my title you may have guessed that things are going well (knocks avidly on wood)! It’s mad to think that this time last year I was anxiously awaiting brain surgery and now I’m back living in London in my final year of university. So what exactly have I been doing for the last five weeks?

  1. I moved back to University! I hate saying that I live in London but mum has been encouraging me to see it as my home away from home so I am adopting that attitude. I am loving it, being back in TheatreLand and feeling independent but I can’t deny how hard it is to be away from home especially in those moments my anxiety is at its peak but FaceTime works wonders and I am counting down the days till reading week!
  2. I started my third and final year! It is ridiculous to think I stepped into the entrance of university for the first time three years ago. I told myself I couldn’t do it and was going to withdraw but here I am nine months away from graduating and writing my dissertation. It was very hard to enter into a new group of students but luckily thanks to the support of my ensemble I have settled in and made some lovely new friends.
  3. I have been cast in the university play ‘The Fall’ by James Fritz! I am so happy about this as I missed performing so much in my year off and the play is so good. I am playing an old lady living in a care home who is considering euthanasia. It is very deep and dark, emotional and thought provoking.
  4. I have got a job! I am so excited to start my Christmas job in Covent Garden, I won’t say exactly where till my first day is complete but it is a dream come true.

So there we have it a very positive beginning to my first semester and hopefully it will carry on in this way. After an extremely tough eighteen months, it is so relieving to finally be on the other side. I can’t wait to blog about my next few months. Keep your eyes peeled for theatre reviews, anxiety hacks, christmas posts and more!

Much Love,

Hannah Jayne Artis ❤
